Simply insert the Bar Code ActiveX Control into your application and specify a few properties in the properties window shown below and your desired bar codes will be generated automatically.

The TAL Bar Code ActiveX Control also supports data binding so you can bind fields in a database to the Control and generate barcodes for each data record automatically. The data binding capability makes it trivially easy to produce reports and labels containing bar codes using any database that supports ActiveX technology including Microsoft Access or Visual Basic.

The control is also fully scriptable in Internet Explorer using VB Script or JavaScript making it extremely easy to create web pages containing high quality, high resolution bar codes.

Features

The TAL Bar Code ActiveX Control supports all commonly used bar code symbologies and it allows complete control over all features of each individual bar code symbology including: Precise control over all bar code dimensions, full selection for the foreground, background and text colors, symbol rotation in 90 degree increments complete font selection for the human readable text above or below a bar code symbol. Support for all major linear bar code symbologies such as Code 39, UPC, EAN, Code 128, PostNET, CodaBar, BookLan, HIBC and Interleaved 2 of 5. Support for the newest two-dimensional bar codes including PDF417, Aztec Code, Data Matrix, MaxiCode, and RSS-14 with the Plus Version.

The control is also a data bound control which allows you to easily incorporate it into database reporting and labeling applications.

Developers

If you are a developer and plan to distribute the control with your application, you will be happy to know that the total uncompressed size of all the files that you need to distribute with your application is less than 500Kb. The compressed size is typically less than 200Kb. In fact, only four small files are required to be installed in order to provide complete support for all of the different types of bar codes supported by the TAL Bar Code ActiveX Control. The control was developed using the Microsoft Active Template Library (ATL) therefore there are no additional runtime dependencies (i.e. MFC Class Libraries or Visual Basic Runtimes). Code signed Internet CAB files are also provided for easy automatic distribution in any web based application.

Note: Some of our customers confuse our Bar Code DLLs with our Bar Code ActiveX control. The TAL Bar Code DLLs are a completely separate product and are therefore not required in order to use the ActiveX control. The Bar Code ActiveX control is a stand alone component that requires no additional libraries.

High Resolution Graphics

The TAL Bar Code ActiveX Control produces high resolution Windows Metafile (vector) graphics that are completely device independent, fully scalable, and will print to the highest resolution of any printer supported by Windows. No knowledge of the printer resolution is required in advance, the graphics that are produced are extremely precise and require minimal system resources, and all barcodes produced with the TAL Bar Code ActiveX Control will display and print lightening fast.

Save Bar Codes In All Major Graphics File Formats

In addition to being able to render all barcodes directly to an output device, the TAL Bar Code ActiveX control also provides a "SaveBarCode" method that allows you to save bar code graphic images to a disk file as a vector style Windows Metafile (WMF) graphic. The Plus version of the ActiveX Control also allows you to save bar codes to disk in all major raster style graphics file formats including GIF, PNG, JPEG, TIF, PCX, BMP and TGA (vector based EPS files are also supported). The GIF, PNG and JPEG capabilities allow the control to be used as a bar code graphic engine on a web server. Complete control over the pixel resolution and pixel color depth is also supported allowing you to produce extremely hi resolution bar codes in all graphic file formats.
