TAL Technologies offers the option for downloading copies of most software products. There are several issues to be considered if you are interested in this option:

The Manual

When you download software you do not receive the manual until this is shipped to you. This can make the software much more difficult to use. The TAL Bar Code ActiveX Control has an on-line manual so it is perfect for downloading. Also our basic bar code data collection software, BC-Wedge, does not require a manual. The manual is essential for the WinWedge products (as it has set-up examples) and for the TAL Bar Code DLLs (as it contains all the type structure declarations and elements as well as a tutorial on bar code technology).

Technical Support

We do not provide our free support service to anyone who does not have a serial number. For the WinWedge and the DLLs, the serial number is printed on the software box. This means that you will have to wait until you receive your software before you are eligible for technical support.

Overnight Delivery

We offer next day air delivery for $15 in the USA. We also offer express delivery to most of Canada for $22 and delivery to Western Europe and other major locations for $27. These are the best options for most customers as you receive the complete software package with the manual and free support.

Difficult Customs

Some overseas countries have very strict customs regulations that can delay your shipment. Some of these countries are Mexico, Israel, India, some South American and African countries. If you live in one of these countries, you may want to consider downloading the software. We can then ship the manual and diskettes only to you as a back up copy. This would classify it as a "document" and can make it easier to clear customs. If we ship the complete software package, shrink-wrapped with manual and diskettes, it needs to clear customs at the full retail price and for some countries this can be difficult and very costly.

A disadvantage of this is that, as mentioned in above, WinWedge and DLL customers are not eligible for the free support until you receive your manual.

After considering the above, if you would still like to download the software please select this option and also select how you would like the software shipped (see Order Form). We recommend overnight shipping so that you receive your manual and free support as soon as possible.

If you are in a country with difficult customs and would like to download the software select either "Ship manual only by airmail" (delivery NOT guaranteed) or "Ship manual only by DHL" (delivery guaranteed) from the shipping options on the Order Form.

Once your credit card has cleared, we will email you the details of how to proceed with downloading. We will also ship your software and/or manual to you - in the way you select - that same day if the order is placed by 4pm Eastern time.
