What if the 30 day limit has already expired?
If the 30 day evaluation period is over, obviously you will not
be able to click on Help > About because you cannot open the
program. However, the box that informs you that your evaluation
period is over actually is the Help > About box, so just double
click on the icon to obtain your unique ID number.
I entered my unlock key and it was accepted,
but the program is still running as a demo!
You must close and restart the application. If, after rebooting
your PC, the program returns to its demo state then you
are probably in a multi user environment.
Windows NT/2000/XP issues:
Once the software is unlocked, the unlock information is stored
in the registry. If you are using a multi user environment - for
example Windows NT, 2000 or XP - and users log in with different
levels of permissions then it is possible for the unlock information
to get "lost".
For instance, if you install and unlock BC-Wedge while logged in
as User1 who does not have permission to make system wide registry
changes, then when you log in as User2 the software will be there
but the unlock information will be unavailable so BC-Wedge will
run as a demo.
The solution is to install and unlock the software while logged
in as the ADMINISTRATOR of the machine, then the full version of
the software will be available to all users.
Will upgrading the operating system affect the
unlock key?
No, it shouldn't. Unless you install the new version of Windows
into a different directory to create a dual boot PC. If you do this
the software will be a demo under the second operating system but
remain unlocked on the original system.
What about other upgrades?
Upgrading the CPU chip, memory, adding additional sound cards,
video cards, or other i/o cards, etc. should not affect the unlock
key. Adding a second Hard Disk should not affect it so long as the
original hard disk remains installed. Changing the hard drive will
usually, though not always, require you to obtain a new unlock key
(using some sort of imaging software to create an exact duplicate
of your old hard drive may sometimes keep the unlock key intact).
Can I transfer the program to a new PC
and enter the same unlock key?
The unlock key should be unique to your PC so entering the same
key on a second PC will not work. If you are getting a new PC and
need to transfer the software to the new PC, then you should contact
us to obtain a new unlock key.
How can I extend my 30 day evaluation?
Reinstalling the software will not extend the evaluation period.
30 days is usually long enough to test whether or not the software
will work for you, but if you would like to use it beyond the 30
days you may purchase it and evaluate it for a further 90 days risk
free.
I ordered the software online and I still
haven't been sent an unlock key!
At this time unlock keys and credit cards must be processed manually
during regular business hours (9 am - 5.30pm Monday to Friday, excluding
holidays.)
Is there a demo of WinWedge?
Unfortunately there is no demo of WinWedge at this time, but it
is covered by our 90 day unconditional money back guarantee.

What if you release an update to a product
that I have already purchased and unlocked?
Minor Upgrades
Occasionally we will update a product to fix a problem or we will
add a new feature. For all minor releases - you can simply download
the latest demo version of your software, uninstall the existing
copy and then install the new version. You should not need to reenter
the unlock key and there is no cost for the update.
Registered customers who own B-coder, TCP-Com, BC-Wedge, COM-File,
TCP-File and CE-Wedge are entitled to free minor upgrades for the
version that they purchased. For example, anyone who purchased B-Coder
4.0 is entitled to all minor upgrades in the 4.x release stream.
Major Upgrades
Taltech reserves the right to charge an upgrade fee for major upgrades.
Once you've paid the upgrade fee you are entitled to free minor
upgrades for that release stream. For example, if you pay the upgrade
fee for B-Coder 4.0 (from B-Coder 3.0), you will be entitled to
all minor upgrades in the 4.x release stream.
Is there a way to backup my unlock key?
For most of our products that run on a desktop PC there should
be no need to backup unlock key - if your hard drive crashes or
you upgrade to a new PC you would need a new unlock key anyway.
The one product where we strongly recommend you do backup your
unlock key is CE-Wedge. As most people who own a Pocket PC soon
discover - if the battery runs out you lose everything. This means
you need to reinstall all of the software and that the unique ID
for your install of CE-Wedge will change and the unlock key we gave
you before will not work. Call us, explain what happened and we'll
be happy to provide you with a new unlock key.
Once you have unlocked CE-Wedge you can use the ActiveSync software
to backup the entire contents of your Pocket PC. After making the
backup - if your batteries run out again and you lose everything,
you will be able to restore all of your programs (including CE-Wedge
in an unlocked state) to your Pocket PC.
