Smithsonian Institute
automates bar code data collection with DOSWedge
The SoftwareWedge for DOS (DOSWedge) is being used in an
exhibition called "The Information Age" at the Smithsonian
Institute in Washington D.C. Visitors wishing to participate
in the interactive exhibits are supplied with a personalized
bar code label. At each interactive display the bar code is
read with an RS232 output scanner and DOSWedge inputs the
data into a computer application. This application then acts
on this personal information to provide visitors with a detailed
summery listing of all the exhibits they have interacted with
at the exhibition. DOSWedge has been in continuous, successful
operation at the Smithsonian since early 1990.
Benefits
