How can I connect serial devices to my Pocket PC?

Most Pocket PC's are now shipped with a USB sync cable instead of a serial sync cable; however, almost all models still have built in RS232 serial ports. The trick to using the built in serial port on a Pocket PC is to get a Serial I/O cable that will connect to the particular model Pocket PC that you have. One company that sells serial I/O cables for Pocket PCs is They carry a full line of RS232 (serial) cables for most standard Pocket PC models and all cables have a standard 9 pin male connector so you do not need a null modem adapter or gender changer in order to connect most typical RS232 devices.

Should I back up my CE-Wedge Installation?

Yes. As most people who own a Pocket PC soon discover, you lose everything if the battery runs out. This means you need to reinstall all of the software and that the unique ID for your install of CE-Wedge will change. Backing up your device through ActiveSync after CE-Wedge has been unlocked allows you to restore the backup and continue using CE-Wedge without unlocking it again.

If you did not backup your device and attempt to reinstall CE-Wedge, the unlock key we gave you before will not work. Call us, explain what happened and we'll be happy to provide you with a new one.

Will I receive updates to products that I have already purchased?

Minor Update
Occasionally we will update a product to fix a problem or we will add a new feature. For all minor releases - you can simply download the latest version of your software, uninstall the existing copy and then install the new version. You should not need to reenter the unlock key and there is no cost for the update.

Major Update
TALtech may charge an upgrade fee for major upgrades. Once you've paid the upgrade fee you are entitled to free minor upgrades for that release stream. For example, if you pay the upgrade fee for B-Coder 4.0 (from B-Coder 3.x), you will be entitled to all minor upgrades in the 4.x release stream.
