Adding Control to VB6’s Toolbox throws error “Object library not registered”

When adding the Barcode ActiveX control to the VB6 toolbox, a message might appear with the error “Object library not registered”. This issue has affected one of our customers with Windows 7 Professional 32-bit.

Possible Solution: If Internet Explorer 10 is installed on your computer, downgrade to IE9. See the procedure below for Windows 7.

  1. Click the Windows Start button and start typing “Programs and Features”. Select the option with that name. Alternatively, open up the Control Panel and click “Programs and Features”.
  2. On the left navigation pane, select “View Installed Updates”
  3. In the search box, type “Windows Internet Explorer 10”
  4. Right click on the resulting update and click “Uninstall”
  5. Reboot the PC

Now, try to add the control to the VB6 toolbox by opening the VB6 IDE, clicking the Tools menu, selecting Components, and checking the box for the TALtech Barcode ActiveX control. The error message should not appear and the control should function as expected. If you are still seeing this error or any other error, please contact us so we can help you find a solution.
