Best Virtual Com Port Driver

TCP/Com®

Multi-function Serial <-> Ethernet Redirection Software

Best Virtual Com Port Driver: Use TCP/Com software to create Virtual COM ports on Any Windows PC.

TCP/Com software re-directs Ethernet/IP data to real or “Virtual” RS232 serial ports. With it you can use your existing Windows-based serial RS232 communications software to send and receive data across any TCP/IP network.

Steps:

  1. Download Free 30 Day evaluation version of TCP/Com and run set up.

  2. Input the IP address and remote port number for the device that you want to collect data from (or control) over Ethernet or the Internet.

  3. Select “This PC will act as a TCP client” for data collection into the PC.

  4. Select any unused Com Port number, i.e. COM5. TCP/Com will create a “Virtual Com Port”. You can leave all the other serial port settings, such as “Baud Rate” as the defaults.

  5. Tell your existing Windows software the port number of the Virtual Com Port (i.e. COM5 and the serial port settings such as Baud Rate).

  6. Transmit data from your Ethernet (TCP/IP) connected device. TCP/Com will automatically make that data available at the virtual com port that you created. Your existing Windows application software will take the data from the Virtual Com Port as if it were a real Com Port.

Notes:

• This is fully bi-directional so your existing serial communications application can also send out commands or data to the IP connected device via the Virtual Com Port.

• Attach a serial device to your IP network using a Terminal Server (Ethernet Serial Server) – OR use TCP/Com on another PC as a software-based Terminal Server.

Best Virtual Com Port Driver: TCP/Com Software is extremely simple but powerful. It can be used to solve a wide variety of device interfacing and RS232 or TCP/IP conversion problems, such as:

  • Turn a PC into a Serial Device Server (Terminal Server)
  • Send or receive data over a TCP/IP port with any serial communications program
  • Open COM ports located on another computer in your network as if they were local
  • Use Ethernet network (or the Internet) as a giant serial RS232 cable (Serial Tunneling)

Windows does not allow multiple programs to access the same COM port. Bypass this restriction by using TCP/Com to split a single COM port into multiple virtual COM ports. This allows all your serial communications programs to access the same data.

Intuitive Multi-Document Interface

In the TCP/Com window just select the com port number and the serial communications parameters for your serial device and enter an IP address and a socket number. Then activate! It's that easy! Com port data will appear at the IP address and data from an IP port will appear at a real or virtual com port.
