TALtech software data privacy in WinWedge, TCP‑Com, and all our products

Your data stays local

ALL TALtech software products are installed 100% locally on your Windows PC and run locally. They are never run from TALtech servers. TALtech has no access to your Windows PCs, your servers or your network or IP addresses.

As explained below, TALtech software products never store any of your data.

WinWedge, WinWedge Pro and our other software are 21 CFR 11 compliant.

For details of how each TALtech software application cannot compromise your data security, please see below:

Data Privacy – Device data collection software applications WinWedgeHID‑ScaleWedge, WinWedge Pro (+ TCP-Wedge), COM‑FileTCP‑File

These software products collect data via RS232 or USB ports or network connections (Ethernet) from devices such as scales, balances, gages, meters, colorimeters and many other laboratory, medical, industrial and quality control measuring instruments.

The device data is instantly transmitted to the destination application of your choice. Windows desktop applications, such as Excel or Access, can receive device data:

  1. As keystrokes that emulate typed-in data
  2. Via a Dynamic Data Exchange link

All other Windows applications and Cloud-based applications receive the data as keystrokes that emulate typed-in data. Typical applications could be spreadsheet, databases, inventory, laboratory or other data collection and analyses software either locally installed or locally accessed (if cloud-based). It is these other (none-TALtech) software applications that collect and store all your data and that need to be secured. Users should take steps to ensure the security and privacy of these destination applications.

The only information stored locally (on your Windows PC) by WinWedge, WinWedge Pro and TCP-Wedge are the configuration files that you create. These control WinWedge internally so that it can communicate with your specific RS232, USB or Ethernet-connected device. The configuration file also instructs WinWedge on how to parse, filter and format your specific device data while transmitting it to your destination application. These configuration files do not contain any of your data and are of use in configuring WinWedge, WinWedge Pro and TCP-Wedge.

Data Privacy – RS232 and Ethernet Redirection/Conversion Software, TCP-Com

TCP‑Com redirects RS232 or USB port data to Ethernet (TCP/IP) ports OR redirects Ethernet port data to real or VIRTUAL RS232 ports.

As with our “Device Data Collection” software TCP-Com runs locally on your PC and never retains or stores any of the data it redirects.

Data Privacy – Barcode Generating Software, B-Coder Pro

TALtech’s B-Coder Pro barcode generation software also runs locally on your Windows PC. It does not store any of the data input into it to create barcodes.

Typically to create custom barcode graphics the user types or pastes information into B-Coder Pro. B-Coder Pro creates a barcode to the specifications of the user and this barcode can be saved as a graphic (such as PNG or JPG graphic files) on the user’s PC. The barcode can also be cut and pasted in Windows to other applications on the same PC.

B-Coder Pro also has MS Word macros that can automate barcoding in MS Word. It has several options including automatically converting text in MS Word to barcodes, doing data “merges” to barcodes or creating auto-sequenced barcode labels to be stored and printed from MS Word. In all these cases any user data or barcodes produced and only stored in your MS Word application running locally.

  • All barcode data creation and processing occurs locally on your device
  • Generated barcodes and associated data remain entirely within your system
